I shot some nitro sealer last night, and more this morning. It's too wet to do anything with it right now, but check back in an hour or so for pics. I think the natural is the way to go.

Thanks Jeremy. I'm glad you are pleased so far. I'm itching to play it now.. You aren't going to believe how the ash turned out.. It's a cool contrast to the barnwood. I wish I had more of both.. You got pretty much the last of the ash, too. I have one piece left, but I don't think I can get a body out of it. Maybe I'll use it on my charango.

That charango seems like it will be a really cool build...hopefully you do another thread for it (hint, hint) I love reading them ;D

Just leave it I think it looks kind of cool and its on the bottom of the guitar anyway. The finish looks fantastic the ash is insane!!

OK.. I thought it was a character mark, too.. That ash makes a very cool texture, visually.. It seems like it will work really nice with the barnwood and the birdseye. I'll build a couple more coats of the sealer, then hand sand, then top coat with a gloss nitro. Eventually, this will amber up, and shrink into the grain, giving it a nice, antique natural. It will eventually check, adding to the old school vibe.

Sounds perfect, this thing is gonna have so much mojo I'm not going to know where to put all of it Oh yeah now I know where... I just picked up a dr. z carmen ghia ;D Edit: just saw that my status went to hopelessly hooked and I think that describes me quite well and I will be even more hooked once I get the guitar ;D

Well, we all need priorities. I'm currently breathing lacquer fumes and watching the clear paint dry...

Nice amp! Chris has a Dr. Z.. Which Z is it? I have played the Maz 18 & 38, the z28, the RX Es, and the Ghia. My favorites were the ghia and the Maz but the ghia just had such an awesome creamy overdrive that I had to get it... after selling my Richter I actually made some cash on the deal
