That's pretty much what I was thinking.. let's not commit just yet, though. It may be different on the body. I can get started with the regular dye, and see what it looks like. If a burst would be an improvement, we can decide at that point. If not, we'll know...

I pretty much finished the neck, and installed the tuners.. Then went to work on the body.. Here's the pickup guide lines Then a date with the drill press.. I double checked the fit, and did a little hand carving for the pickup feet.. Then set up my high-tech routing fixture with some carpet tape.. At this point, I was running late, so the photo shoot had to end.. but I did get the pickup cavities routed, and shot a quickie mock-up.. Here's where she sits right now... Coming along nicely! ;D

I've been hand sanding all night.. Yes, it's looking great. Yes, the neck was on it when I weighed it- as well as the pickups, pickup rings, bridge, tuners.. This thing rings like a bell, and balances beautifully. It will gain a little bit of weight with the pots, switches, and output jack- but not much. Unbelievable... I plan on starting the body finish tomorrow morning.. it's getting closer. As I wet it down to raise the grain, the natural coloration of the woods is morphing.. a natural finish may be just the ticket.. might be better than all those oils and dyes I made. I'll know more in the morning.

Repeat after me.
"Natural, natural, natural."
Rinse and repeat.
