looking at the pictures of that fretboard you probably could have told me it was Braz and charged me more ;D Well, we decided to go with Brazilian rosewood on this guitar. That will be $300, please make the money order payable to Chris Rice. haha too late

Well, I spent today fighting to get the web site back- and then it just came back by itself.. The rest of the day was shaping, sanding, dyeing, and coating the neck.. I'll post a few pics tomorrow- it's too wet to handle right now. What a gorgeous hunk of birdseye maple. It's starting to *glow*!!

It looks ten times better in person.. Flash photography kills the depth of the tint. The wood figuring "moves" beautifully. It's a really nice piece of birdseye, elegant and vibrant without being "over the top". I'll try to get some better pics with natural light tomorrow.

Still not great , too much glare.. I'll try something else in a bit. If you click on "Full Size" in the Photobucket link, you can at least get a taste of it. It's lovely.

Looks great Rich Did you use tinted nitro or dye it first and then nitro?

I dyed it a couple of times, sanding finer in between coats. and that's a polymerized oil finish.. No nitro (yet)

No trouble at all, Jeremy. It still looks much cooler in hand.. I need bright, diffused light to really show you. It looks so different from different angles- from very plain to insane. You'll love it. The finish on the back of the neck is starting to set harder now, and it's just right. I'm very pleased with the contour and "feel". ;D

I sanded back the face of the headstock to bare wood, as I was not happy with the direction it was heading. The color was good, but the surface was getting lumpy looking. I will try to lay out the tuner holes, drill, and then re-do the face with straight nitro. I can control the nitro better, and embed the decals with my regular system.
