Well, I got some kick-ass mahogany, sliced it, diced it, jointed, sized, planed, glued it up and sanded it into a body blank. Then went about getting an acceptable body shape. After a few tries, we're happy.. I slimmed it down a little, moved the waist, and cleaned up the look- Then made a routing template for the new body shape... drew a center line on the body blank, and traced around the template. It took considerable figuring, but I think the end justifies the process.. I'm liking the shape now.

I like the body size better than the Fender RF guitar, Rich. And I think the smaller body is going to be more comfortable too.

Glad it worked out, Greg. Had me going in circles for a while there. BTW, I started a neck- I trued up a gorgeous hunk of mahogany (from the same piece as the body) Then I got busy with the protractor, jointer, bandsaw, and ruler.. Looks good so far!

Here are a couple more shots- gluing up the neck joint- Lots of clamps, baby! This is a great example of a luthiers' joint (also called a scarf joint. It's extremely strong, and virtually invisible when done properly.

My pleasure. I just rough cut the body.

OK.. I pulled the clamps off the neck blank- here are a few shots to give an idea of just how massive this blank is.. In front of a Deluxe Reverb amp.. In my hand Next to a full size T.. I had better sharpen my pen knife- got a bit of whittling to do... I didn't mention it before, but the tap tone on this batch of mahogany is utterly fantastic. The stuff rings like a bell. I went back and bought all the rest they had. Beautiful! ;D ;D

The neck is huge. lol
That's good to know about the tap tone. Btw, I changed the order on my neck pickup from 7.6k to around 8k. So it should work better with a coil tap.

Yes, I like the 8k better. I think you will, too.
I got a bunch done last night and this morning.. Almost time for a nap...
