Well, after many delays the control plates are done. Polished stainless steel control plates. I should have them tomorrow or Thursday. Can't wait to get going on these!

I decided to hand carve a new neck for this one after spotting a cool piece of wood from Peru. The new fingerboard will be limoncillo. The neck will be quarttersawn maple.

Tulips are alive! Final base price is $1250, and will feature a nitro finish rather than oil. The necks will still be oil finished. Wood will be as available, probably sticking with coniferous species. The first complete Tulip with minihumbuckers has an inspiring tonality and weighs in at a stunning 5 lbs. 10 oz. I will upload video clips once I've finished the setup. They will have your choice of minihumbuckers or P-90s, and mplae or rosewood fretboard.

I played #113, the natural finish Tulip in the above picture. What a sweet guitar!! Beautiful tones, and it has that Rice feel that makes it very difficult to put down. Even more beutiful in person. The 'ergonmics' of the design are beautiful. The Tulip's double cutaway, out-of-your-way controls and the wrap around bridge are all so comfortable. It really is a nicely designed guitar. Great stuff, Rices!
