Chris, Your newest model appears to be far superior to the very first "Rice Custom" which began it's life as I recall an Avacado burst "Tyco" Strat copy that was given a Hot Pink lacquer make over and a rewire of sorts. It sounded great through the "Kustom" stack that had TP& nail polish repaired 15's.... It was like built in Fuzz! Give my best to dad. Well Dave, Welcome to the forum! Great to hear from you! As you can see, old habits die hard.. I think that pink one was around 1968 or '69... and folks think I'm a newbie at wrecking guitars...

Can't wait to see how this turns out.
My very first guitar was a flake red Teisco Tulip guitar just like that. It had a black pickuard with a white floral border, a sort of Bigsby tremolo bar, and big honkin microphonic pickups. By microphonic I mean you could speak into the face of the guitar and your voice wouldn't just barely come through but would come through clear and loud.
I hoarded soda and beer bottles for a couple of weeks to get the $29 to buy one at Skaggs Drug store in Phoenix. I was 12 years old (about 1970). For an amp I played through my record player.
Sorry for the way-back-when-oldtimer story, but seeing that body brought back that memory.
Very cool concept. This and the Osprey make for really nice designs.

I love that story. Mine was a Silvertone from Sears, $58. I played through the parents' Hi-Fi set. Eventually, my dad built me a plywood box, installed the Hi-Fi amp in it along with a 10" Zenith TV speaker.
The old Teisco designs are pretty familiar, there were plenty of them around. I used to buy them from classmates, and customize them..
Glad you like the Tulip. It will be a much better guitar than the Teisco, but (hopefully) a retro-cool vibe.

After looking at this for a few days, we've had a change of pickup plans. A pair of cream-ringed minihumbuckers, approved by Matt Rice.
<EDIT>Also available with Cream P-90s.</EDIT>

Memories always seem to get better with age.. Not Teisco guitars, though..
