Thanks Jeremy! I think the list has 26 people waiting for it right now.. We're having issues with the decal for the headstock.. Once I can get a clean one, it will go out. Everything else is ready to go..

Now, wouldn't that be something?! I haven't even heard it yet- need the decals before I install the tuners. I put it together, (less the tuners) and it feels great in my hands- but I'm dying to hear it through an amp...

yeah you would have to set up a 300$ consulting fee to tame the work load like d'pergo...... I bet the first chord on a guitar that you built is a wonderful experience.

I bet the first chord on a guitar that you built is a wonderful experience. It defies description. Sometimes at the end of a build I'll look back at the pics of the rough lumber.. it kinda blows my mind. There aren't many things in life that give me such satisfaction. The real kicker is when I go play gigs with my kids, and we're playing instruments that Chris and I built together- plus the kids have become better musicians than I'll ever be.. it's amazing, and a little humbling- all at the same time. I guess I should clarify- I call them "kids", but my youngest (Andy the drummer) is almost 22..

Well, I've come to the conclusion that the guitar needs to go out- despite the less than perfect decals. I'll get busy finishing it up tomorrow, and just apply the ones I have... I need to find a good decal maker. If anybody knows of a good silk screener, please let me know.

This guitar will be "On Tour" as a demo. Hi Rich just logged in to see the status of the tour organisation... have you decided on expanding the tour to Europe? as mentioned I could be of help in organizing customs etc... this would be a great opportunity to do some advertisement for Rice guitars .... looking forward to your news Nick

Hi Nick!
Great to see you!
I'm not opposed to a European tour. I rather like the idea. We have several instruments in Europe, and we really appreciate your offer. Chris and I have discussed the possibility. The biggest drawbacks are the shipping costs, possibility of loss/damage/theft, and availability of another instrument.
I think we would be interested in a EU tour in the future, but we need to see how the domestic (US) tour works out first. If it is successful, I would want to build a second Osprey specifically for that tour- keeping one in the US, and a second instrument in Europe.
Shipping a guitar to Europe costs us about $130, and it would need at least 5 or 6 destinations to make the trip worthwhile. After it has been through those stops, it would need to be returned to us for inspection and adjustments. We don't want to send a guitar out for longer, as there are too many small things that affect the playability. If something were to happen in transit, and knocked the guitar out of adjustment, it would be a poor representation for us- thus we need to keep it on a short leash.
We will certainly consider the possibility of a European tour, but I don't think it will happen right away. Our plans could change quickly if the US tour is a success.. You will be first on the list. Thanks again for your offer! ;D

How about a Canadian tour Hi Marty! Welcome to the board! Canada could be easier, as long as there are a couple of stops up there (or close).. The toughest part is customs, shipping costs aren't as steep as Europe. ;D

After so long, we have finally settled on a "Standard" set of specifications. We are currently producing a guitar for our long overdue tour. It has been some time since I have written of such a guitar, and I must apologize for the delays. Since the Osprey's debut, every one of them has been so different that a "typical" Osprey simply does not exist.
That having been said, we have come to a wonderful set of specifications which will work together extremely well. This design is a direct result of having played many incarnations of the Osprey model, in combination with our experience both as luthiers and as professional players. We believe this is the best way to deliver a tremendous value and a versatile, comfortable, attractive, and superior sounding instrument. We hope you will agree that this one was worth the wait.
