I felt like the amp shack needed a few more posts.
Anyway, anyone here build there own amps? I've started to, but still am pretty new to it.

Welcome to the board! I've done some simple mods, replaced transformers, and recapped my own amps, but that's as far as I've gone. Chris has done more extensive stuff with amps, though.

I've fiddled with a Blues Jr. I also built a guytronix kit. Right now I am thinking on either building a Fender based amp or ODS based one from scratch. I wish I knew someone who was a more experienced that I could use for help with my build, but it is looking like I will be on my own, and therefore very frustrated from time to time.
I am at school so I don't have a camera or any recording gear so no pics or sound clips....

I always thought it might be fun to do a kit sometime but I would probably end up electrocuting myself somehow. Maybe a pedal or two first.

There are some really cool kits available. I just have plenty of amps already.. Some of the kits come with very straightforward plans. I'd investigate those first, if I felt like building one. Pedals are a whole different animal from tube amps, though. Safer, and low voltage. I think there is a wealth of info here: www.webervst.com/vstbbs/bbs.html

yeah i was thinking about doing a pedal or two first just to get more comfortable soldering and then maybe taking on an amp

I've done bunches of repairs, built one (5F1 based), and done a few parts-o-amps.

I've built a STF Super Charged Champ kit. It was pretty fun and I managed not to kill myself. The amp turned out real well too. I'd love to do another. I've also done some Blues Jr mods on my son's amp. I would recommend STF to anyone doing a first build on a tweed Champ type circuit: www.stf-electronics.com *no affiliation
