Alright, I always have tones of questions about simple stuff and here is another one. Why is it so important to have matched tube sets? can I ruin my amp if I use a set of tubes that is not matched? Thanks

Thanks for the article. I just don't remember if the tubes I bought for my amp a long time ago a matched quartet or at least matched pairs.

Go ahead and try 'em.. you won't do any harm. Your amp can handle the tubes, biased or otherwise. See how they sound...

Matched tubes give a little more headroom and punch however slightly mismatched power tubes (especially in a cathode biased amp) generate more harmonics.
