A guy at my church recently put a hipshot b-bender on his G&L tele and man is that thing fun to play with! I would love one to play around with for a longer period of time. Any of you own b-benders? How do you like them for pratical applications?

I like the Parsons White B-benders. I got started with an Epiphone EZ Bender, and hated the restrictions of the lever, and the limitations it placed on my picking hand. I haven't tried the Hipshot, some folks like them, lots of folks don't. I didn't like the Parsons/Green benders I tried, the mechanisms were not quiet, and I didn't like the overall system. The PW bender is lightweight, easy to use, and doesn't interfere with regular playing techniques. I like them a lot, which is the reason we only offer that system at this time.

I would like to try the McVay Stringbenders. They are used on Crook Custom teles.

I'd like to try a McVay bender, too. Obviously they do the job, and they look like they could be used in double cutaway guitars- which is a plus. I have seen many reports from players that the location of the lever is unnatural, and throws the balance of the instrument off, but I cannot comment as I have not had the opportunity to try one myself.
I would welcome comments from anybody who has tried a McVay. Another one I would like to hear about is the Glaser system.

I like the Parsons White B-benders. How tough are they to install? Always wanted a bender

Well, you have to be extremely precise with the routing. Plan on doing some adjustments as you assemble/modify the hardware and the body to get it to work right.. It's not that tough as long as you take your time and think each little problem through. Not for novices, though.
That being said, I refuse to install one on somebody else's guitar. I'll do a complete build from start to finish, but have turned away requests to mod somebody's favorite Tele. I got a partially completed one from a customer, and (after three days of solid work) had to completely remove the mechanism and provide a new body. The bender had been installed by a well known bender guy, but it was so far out of whack that it couldn't be "fudged" into working and looking right. After that, I will only do my own, from beginning to end.

Yes, #058 has the P/W bender mechanism. We have the mechanisms made for us by Bill Bores, down in Texas. He makes them for WD Music, too. Very nice guy.
