We picked up a couple of nice old Martin guitars, both of which require neck resets.
Mine is a 1962 0-16NY, a small bodied, wide necked guitar. It is amazingly loud and mellow for its size, and I really like the extra width of the fingerboard due to my chubby fingertips. It gives me a little extra room to play clearly, which can be challenging on typical skinny fingerboards. I like the fact I can caress it and coax very intimate, subtle tones- then hit it hard and strong without overpowering the instrument. It just gets louder and punchier. Quite a guitar.
I am amassing all the right equipment with which to reset the neck, and will chronicle its progress on this forum. If this sounds like a cool project to follow, simply subscribe to this thread and enable e-mail updates. I'm not going to do this all at once, but as a "part time" repair at my own pace as time allows.
Chris has acquired an antique Martin tenor guitar, I'll leave it up to him to give the particulars. This will be reset once my New Yorker has been done satisfactorily. I want to do the job on my guitar before addressing his.
