We just came back from Guatemala, and it is a beautiful country. From the Mayan ruins, to the streets of Antigua, to the black sand beach in Monterrico, the whole country is a primitive paradise. Unspoiled by excess commercialism, the diversity of the different regions is amazing. The people were friendly, the sights were unbelievable. Standing atop a 3,000 year old Mayan Temple defies description. Eating fresh fruit from a municipal market is an experience all its own. Behind the fortified walls that line the streets of Antigua, lie beautifully landscaped courtyards. The flowers and birds are colorful and exotic. I only forgot one thing in Guatemala- I forgot to stay there.

I'm ready to visit them everyday. If you're interested in photos (lots of landscape shots in addition to the normal wedding and vacationing type things) drop me an e-mail and I'll send a link on over.

After a day on the beach, there's nothing better than a quick dip in the pool Then hanging around with friends and family, drinking fruit juice based drinks (laced with Guatemalan rum), and laughing... unforgettable!

Here's a view from our private patio at our hotel in Antigua, one month ago. Here's a view from our private patio at home, today. Now, which is more enticing???

It sure is! I'm trying to figure out when I'll be able to take a couple weeks with my cousins and go backpacking out there, but it probably wont happen for a while.

Drinking from freshly opened coconuts in Monterrico There were these old barges carrying people, livestock, SUVs, and motorcycles to the island. Talk about old world integrated with the new.. This is one of the prettiest countries I've ever seen.. tranquil is an understatement! Hard to believe I was there a month ago, with exceptionally cold weather here in Chicago, and so much snow..
