Hey Rices....on a whim I opened the hood on the 029 and the wiring is a little different. Did Chris do the wiring and does he remember what all he did on this one? I know it's been a few years.
The neck P90 has a bit of 60 cycle hum so I'm considering swapping it out for one of the new Fralin hum cancelling p90's. But a big part of me doesn't want to fix what really isn't broken. I really don't want to alter the tone.
I suppose I could try shielding it first.
Anyway, still loving the RCG.

If I remember correctly, I ran a filter system on the P-90 to bring down the volume a touch and remove some of the excessive bass of the Gibson P-90. There is another circuit in there to change the volume pot's value to 250K when just the bridge pickup is selected, the other two positions have a 500K load.
I rewired that guitar many times before settling on what is in there. They were a tough pickup set to match.
An underwound Fralin probably wouldn't need the filter network.

Thanks, Chris...did you shield the leads of the P-90 or do anything else to them? They look different from the pickup and then further down at the pot.
Maybe I should snap a few picks if I can. not a big thing, just curious of what you did.

I don't remember exactly, but I may have changed the lead partway through to keep the shielded cable from shorting out the switch.

kind of an update...sort of.
After some thought I've decided this guitar is perfect as is and not to be messed with or do a pickup change...60 cycle hum and all. I played for a long time this weekend through my Winfield and it was perfection.
Since i'm a pickup change junkie, I reserve the right to change my mind at a later date. ;D

If you want to try something, we're doing pickups for a while now. A set of Rice pickups in your Rice...hmmm...last guy to try that had this to say:
