Perhaps Rich Rice can come up with a new name for strat, since the word has kind of a "He whose name must not be mentioned" aura about it with him. But man, he (and Chris) sure put some love into this one, which I just bought. I had borrowed it for a few days, gave it back (because I needed to sell two other guitars to raise cash), and then the house just didn't feel right without it, so having sold the guitars, I just bought it. It is unbelievable. It has a fat neck with a compound radius, with an artful distress, that is so well done, it reminds me of a perfect leather chair, that doesn't seem quite brand new, but you wouldn't make it brand new either, because it is perfect, but also has a new feel in that is just sweet and without imperfections. Part of the magic of Rice guitars is, I think, due to the obsessive nature by which Rich fits the neck into the body. I have held Rice guitars where you can swing the guitar around, without the neck plate attached, and there is no movement at all. They are TIGHT. This creates a transfer of vibration through the body that is like fine bubbly champagne, and this guitar produces a breathtaking sustain. You combine this with Lollar Blackface pups, and a blocked bridge, and you just have something out of this world. Oh, it is beautiful; it makes the tribulations of life more bearable..... www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=355513

Speaking of tight neck pockets... I think of everyone who's come and played a guitar, only one didn't buy one. That's a pretty good way to be.

The most necessary tool I see in that picture would have to be the fishing rod

Look closely, there's two rod/reels (near the fishtank air pump) and a third rod at the top of the picture.
I didn't even notice those.

no ice fishing eh? My favorite fishing spot is about an hour drive and a 2.5 hour hike away on the Appalachian trail but man is it a sweet one.

No, they would arrest me if I tried ice fishing on this lake. It's owned and operated by the local Park District. Strictly catch and release. I'm displeased with our municipality, as they spend way too much money on things we don't want or need, and ignore the residents' concerns. They have an agenda, and have torn down everything I loved about the area in order to attract the "right" type of people. I'm the guy they would love to see move away.. So I guess I'll stay.

Thats a shame about your neighborhood, I become less and less interested in politics the more I hear stories like this. Stay there as long as you can

I played #76 tonight for an hour. It was in my basement. When I grabbed it, the neck was cool. As I played, it warmed up. I could feel it, not just on the surface, but the neck as a whole, just like when you touch someone's hand, you can feel the temperature of the person, and not just their skin. That is the kind of neck this is. This guitar is just ridiculous (just like Devin Hester).

I'm glad you still like it, John. ;D
It feels real smooth, that's for sure. If you give it a few hours in a row, every day for a week, it will feel so natural.. I did, and damn near kept it.

the problem I would have if I were you-Rich--------would be selling them. If I had all those guitars around me I'd probably lock my self in a room with a good amp(and a few other things) and people would never see me again--------------aaahhhh what a life

It's tempting in the beginning, but you get used to it.. I try to do each one as if it were for me, knowing I can always do another one just like it if I want.. I've kept a few, but actually have fewer guitars now than I had a couple of years ago... I keep selling them off, and replacing them.
