In an effort to separate our two new models, we have decided to assign new names.. Please be aware that each of these is different from any other, and each will have its own identifying characteristics. The Osprey I body shape will remain the "Osprey" The Osprey II body shape will be called the "Kingfisher" Both are available in any configuration you desire, semi hollow, fully hollow, or solidbody. Your choice of woods, hardware, electronics.

Thanks! They sound good, too! Welcome to the forum! I appreciate the clips you sent me, wondering which ones you used the Blue Beastie on.. We'd like to post a link on the RCG Sound Clips board, if it's agreeable with you. Thanks again! Rich

I can't make up my mind on that shape. Why the bird names?

I can't make up my mind on that shape. Why the bird names? Well, to make a long story short- I've always loved birds. I was on a weekend camping trip, and came across a nature center in Indiana. Little tiny place, but full of interesting animals (preserved animals). At that time I was almost finished with the first prototype, and trying to decide what to call it. I turned my head, and there was the coolest bird of prey, about 10" from my face, hanging from the ceiling.. an Osprey. I thought about that bird over and over, it was sleek, striking in appearance, and a little menacing. By the time I got back to the shop, I had decided that would be the name of our new guitar. It just stuck. In the meantime, I have studied Ospreys, and admire them. The renaming of the Osprey II is an attempt to differentiate between the two- to avoid confusion. Kingfishers are a very interesting bunch, there are lots of different Kingfishers, and they are all different, just as the guitars are. ;D

I love the new body shapes as well as the headstock design that you have! Very original and very classy.
It's cool to hear about your affinity for birds Rich as my late grandfather was an avid bird watcher. Some of my fondest memories of him were the times he packed up the family and the scope and went out to the local nature preserve and watch the birds. I have some cool pictures of osprey from my recent trip to Montana. If you would like I could shoot some your way in an email!

Thanks Jeremy! I'd love to see them! I really enjoy watching all kinds of birds- I used to have seven feeders in my back yard, and kept a little book and binoculars by the sliding door, along with a bird book, to try to identify them.. I'm just too busy to do that right now.. I was extremely involved in Scouting for many years, and it really opened my eyes to the beauty in nature.

If you ever get a chance you have to go to Yellowstone/The Grand Tetons it was the most spectacular display of wildlife I have ever seen! Black bears, Grizzly's, tons of buffalo, coyotes, wolves, etc. you name it it is there! I'm trying to set up a photobucket with my pics and I'll send you a link. ;D

Well, it was an interesting sidebar.. Back to the new models... I finished up the headstock last night and installed the tuners this morning. Chris' turn- he'll carve the nut and do an intense setup over the next few days.. Here are a couple of shots, taken a few minutes ago.
