..chordal jazz, ala' bossa nova, jazz standards, and interesting 'jazzy' arrangements of non-standard musical standards (think: Herb Alpert's version of TASTE of HONEY, etc.)

Blues, blues & more blues! The first time I listened to The Progressive Blues Experiment album by Johnny Winter I was hooked. There's too many artists to list, but some that I'm digging lately are: Watermelon Slim & the Workers Coco Montoya Jimmy Thackery Tinsley Ellis Joe Bonamassa Tommy Castro Thackery comes through town every now & then. Bonamassa is kinda local (utica,ny) I saw him when he was 14 at a picnic with Danny Gatton & Gatemouth Brown. He sat in with Gattons band. Albert Collins Johnny Winter Gatemouth BB Albert Anything with a strong melody, great guitar, believable story. Real Country (Waylon,Willie,Merle,Hank,D.A.Coe ) Beatles Stones Pink Floyd Clapton Mayall JJ

Journey, Boston, Cheap Trick and Kansas have really grown on me from being exposed to them constantly for 30 years ... NOT!! I also like really new bands like U2, The Pretenders, and REM.

Journey, Boston, Cheap Trick and Kansas have really grown on me from being exposed to them constantly for 30 years ... NOT!! I also like really new bands like U2, The Pretenders, and REM. Boston's first album is mostly great, everything after that I have not liked at all. Kansas has some great stuff buried in their catalog-I've seen them 5 times. I love the band when Robby Steinhardt is with them, don't care for them without. Journey..not for me. Cheap Trick..I heard one version of Surrender by a friend's band in high school that I liked. That's about it. I like The Pretenders and am of and on about U2 and REM. But what do I know? I've been listening to The Beach Boys, CSNY and Johnny Winter this week.

Ritchie Blackmore Gary Moore Roy Clark Chet Atkins Les Paul Eddie Van Halen Tony Iommi Yngwie Malmsteen Steve Morse Joe Pass I remember seeing Joe Pass in 1981 when I thought I was hot S--- on the guitar. A very humbling experience. Same thing happened when I saw Herb Eliis and Barney Kessel together, Eddie Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Morse.
